Cottage at Quitsa

“It was fortunate that they did not get out to the open sea where grave dangers would have met them,” reports the Vineyard Gazettte. Late one afternoon in June, 1913 this cottage was placed on a scow and floated across Menemsha Pond by members of the Mayhew family. The sailors/movers lost their way in the darkness and fog but somehow managed to make land.
